This work, whose four parts cover singing, theory, composition and playing from thoroughbass respectively, is of particular interest for the fact that it begins with a biographical dictionary of musicians, the first known attempt at such a work. It was known to E.L. Gerber, who used it in the preparation of his own Tonkünstler-Lexicon (1790-92), but his theory that Schacht drew on a lost work by Meibom is without foundation.
