A few minor stains to spine, light wear to corners and spine ends, which are bumped, vellum just beginning to crack through pastedowns, moderate toning to text, faint dampstaining in a few places, illegible early owner inscription (?) to front pastedown, early shelfmark (?) to rear pastedown. $1,450. * Later edition. Educated at the University of Louvain, Goudelin commenced practice as an advocate at Malines (Mechelen) in 1572. He became a professor of law at his alma mater in 1582. First published in 1620, his Commentariorum is a study of inheritance and succession according to Roman and canon law. A well-regarded, durable work, it went through several editions into the nineteenth century. The 1661 edition includes a funeral oration in honor of Goudelin by Wittebort, a faculty colleague and legal scholar. All editions of this treatise are uncommon in North American libraries.
