The reason is no doubt the proliferation, diversification and reorganisation of interest groups gravitating around EU institutions. Publications on lobbying in the EU are numerous, yet the connection between lobbying and democracy, ethics or the evolving political system of the EU is generally less well appreciated. Drawing upon in-depth case studies, as well as on the experience of practitioners, this book makes an attempt to reassess the validity of certain analytical frameworks and classical distinctions such as -pluralism versus corporatism- in the light of current practice. While seeking to identify patterns in interest intermediation, it also focuses on the regulation of lobbying and on crucial issues such as ethics and corruption.
