In den Warenkorb8vo, pp. 256. Original orange boards, lettered in black to front panel and spine. Illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy in a complete but worn dustwrapper with some creasing and closed tears, especially to front panel. First edition. Scarce in any sort of dustwrapper -- and a copy which has survived far better than the reputation of its author, who has now been comprehensively forgotten. COPAC's listing of Glyder's work shows him to have been active between 1928 and 1949 (making it likely that this was his last book), and two films were made from his novels: The Compulsory Husband [1930] and The Compulsory Wife [1937]. Apart from that, nothing: Glyder's name does not seem to have troubled the scorers in any of the standard reference works.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st. 'Charles Cheeseman, author of the highly successful first novel Mr Jakes Investigates, has exhausted his ideas. Desperately seeking a new situation he is amazed to hear that a Diana Deane wishes to see him. Since the heroine of his own novel bears the name of Diana Deane, his bewilderment is not surprising. But the explanation is really quite simpleand, when Diana asks for his assistance in recovering certain incriminating letters from a Captain Cronshaw, and Charles' reckless neighbour, Reggie Cutler, offers to lend a hand, the riotous fun begins.' Scarce novel by this author. Not dated. British Library gives 1941. The list of titles at the rear is in chronological order and lists this title first at the full 7s 6d price, earlier titles are all cheaper. The book is bright with only light rubbing to spine ends. A couple of small marks to front cover. Inside, clean with no inscriptions.
