GLOSSINGER, John. A MAKER OF MEN. Foreword by Dr. Ralph W. Sockman. NY: Vantage press, [1962]. Tall 8vo., maroon cloth in dust jacket. First Edition. Glossinger left his Ohio farm to eventually become a very successful sales executive and corporate president in New York City. He first received much attention early in his career for promoting the "Oh Henry!" candybar into popularity by promoting it directly on the streets of New York City and by using his selling instincts. An interesting success story! Signed inscription by Glossinger on the front endpaper: "Kind thoughts always, John Glossinger. Aug. 21- 1962." Also with a signed presentation, to Tiffin Walker & dated 1965, from Dr. W.A. Hammond, then President of the Greene County Historical Society. With a folded Green County Historical pamphlet and two promotional sheets from Glossinger ["To Fellow Thinker"] laid in. A color snapshot photograph of Glossinger visiting with his friend, Harry Harford Walker, at Dr. Hammond's residence in 1965 [with information penned below]. Also with a one-page autograph letter signed from Glossinger, on "Fellow Thinker" stationery, to Harford saying he would be very pleased to meet his son and thanks him for the photograph [with original envelope tipped to the rear endpaper]. Also tipped to the rear pastedown is a press-release photograph of all three men (joined by two others) standing on Hammond's porch in 1965- one of the other people is Tiffin Walker, to whom Hammond inscribed this book. Needless to say, quite an unusual copy of a very scarce book! Very Good; some edgewear (small chips & tears) d/j. $250.00.…
