Illustrated by Glenn Wolff. A page of the original typescript manuscript with annotated author's notes in pencil tipped in at the rear. Housed in a custom full silk moire slipcase with gilt titles on a Nigerian goatskin label to the front panel. John Gierach (1946â"2024) was an American essayist whose writing helped define contemporary angling literature through its blend of humor, technical knowledge, and philosophical reflection. Best known for books such as 'Trout Bum' and 'Fishing Bamboo', he framed fly fishing as both a practical craft and a way of seeing, using rivers and landscapes to explore themes of solitude, friendship, aging, and environmental awareness. 'Fishing Bamboo' is a reflective collection of angling essays that uses bamboo fly rods as a lens for exploring craftsmanship, tradition, and the lived experience of fly fishing.
