On each front paste-down engraved bookplate of Mikhail Petrovitch Lazarev (1788 - 1851). He was a descendant of an old Russian noble family from the Vladimir region. In 1800, he enrolled at the St Petersburg Naval College. Three years later, he was sent to England and sailed for five years on ships of the British fleet, where he probably met the author.…
