There is a discussion of the current age in comparison with historical periods, and how the profession of nursing is changing. A list of nurses doing notable things follows this chapter, and includes Mary Adelaide Nutting, Lilian Wald, Isabel Hampton Robb, Annie Goodrich, Lavinia Dock, and others. The book also discusses ethics between the patient and the nurse, in observation of the patient, relating to gossip and telling the truth, in regards to discipline, the opposite sex, fees and gifts, and more.
