Publisher's paperback cover. The publication is a historically significant document of the Italian Chess Championship final held in Florence between March 7 and 28, 1929, chronicling the tense title match between Stefano Rosselli del Turco and Mario Monticelli. The booklet was published by the Florentine L'Italia Scacchistica, located at 38 Via Jacopo Nardi. This was the oldest and most prestigious Italian chess magazine, which had actually been founded years earlier by one of the match's participants, Stefano Rosselli del Turco himself. The inscription "1929-VII" on the cover is a reflection of the era: the Roman numeral seven refers to the seventh year of the Fascist calendar (calculated from the 1922 takeover of power), which was a mandatory formal element on Italian publications at the time. The full-page black-and-white photograph inside depicts the two masters in play over the chessboard, surrounded by an engaged contemporary audience and tournament referees.
