Prima edizione di questa commedia in tre atti in endecasillabi. G.C. Becelli (Verona 1686 - 1750) fu letterato asssai stimato all'epoca, autore di varie opere teorico-critiche ricordate dal Gamba (n. 2151) e di svariate pièces teatrali, pubblicate tra il 1740 ed il 1748, sui modelli del Maffei, suo maestro, amico e protettore, ''sia riproducenti il tipo delle nostre commedie cinquecentesche, sia drammatizzanti questioni e spunti di critica letteraria., sia anche rivolte alla satira del costume contemporaneo'' (Sanesi II, pp. 289-290). Fregio xilografico al frontespizio. Legatura in pieno vitello spugnato (lievi mende), titolo inciso in oro su tassello in marocchino porpora, sguardie marmorizzate, tagli rossi. Bell'esemplare impresso su carta forte di questa prima e unica edizione del poema in ottava di Giulio Cesare Becelli, in cui vengono messe in scena le avventure tragicomiche del Gonnella, celebre giullare alla corte del duca Carlo d'Este.
