Based on the 1897 play by Lottie Blair Parker, about a naive country girl who is tricked into a false marriage by a womanizing man-about-town. The film is best remembered for the f…amed end scene, wherein Gish's character is unconscious and stranded on an ice floe racing towards a deadly waterfall, only to be rescued at the last moment by Richard Barthelmess. Shot on location in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and Vermont. 6.5 x 5 inches. Near Fine.

Vintage studio still photograph from the 1920 film, showing Burr McIntosh casting Lillian Gish away from the dinner table, while the other boardinghouse residents look on. The third of four film adaptations of Lottie Blair Parker's 1897 play, a melodrama about a young woman who falls into disgrace and despair after being misled…by a handsome cad. The film's famous climactic scene, in which the heroine is stranded on an ice floe and narrowly rescued by her beloved, was shot on location in White River Junction, Vermont, and left Gish with only partial use of her right hand for the rest of her life due to exposure. 10 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with neat pinholes at each corner, lightly and evenly toned.
