The cover has green cloth with orange letters and a pastedown illustration. 331 pages; 11 chapters; 4 color plates; illustrated endpapers. The top end of the text block is dark orange. About a third of each endpaper has darkened. The pages that face the plates have foxing on one or more margins. DJ: The orange color has faded. The front panel has a label about selection by The Child Study Association. The top edge has five chips, 1/4 in. to 5/8 in.,six closed tears, 1/8 in. to 3/4 in., and crease lines. The bottom edge has two, liner 1/4 in. chips and five closed tears, 1/8 in. to 3/4 in. The spine panel has light, shelf wear soiling; the bottom half of the back panel is less thus.

Black cloth printed in red with a color illustration mounted on the front cover. Covers a little rubbed with minor fraying to the spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, pages mainly very clean with an old tranparent stain to the upper and inner margins of the first few pages (not affecting printed areas), age-darkened endpapers, no names or other markings, something removed from the inside rear cover, looks like it was probably a clipping or a piece of dustjacket. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
8vo. green cloth covered boards with large pictorial pasteon, hardcover; vii, 331 pages; double color title page and 3 full page color illustrations by Godwin ; lightly edgeworn covers, former owner's name on first free endpaper and first few pages are foxed else a very good, clean, tight copy.
