Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover: Very Good, 29 x 22 cm, 386 pp., Dutch, Signed by Author, 1st Edition, illustrations, book condition: Very Good In twenty-six chapters, Turnhout from A to Z, an urban biography in its own way, answers the challenges and insights that have become reality since the publication of the last city history over 30 years ago. The dominance of one political party disappeared, secularization and the growth of other worldviews continued, the composition of the population changed, new infrastructure was developed Archaeological excavations took place in the historical center of the city, and thorough research of unknown sources and innovative methods yielded remarkable insights. Loose chapters, each written by a specialist in the field, highlight different facets of the history and current affairs of the Binken city. It was chosen to view the story of Turnhout in an innovative way, sometimes as a historical contribution, sometimes as an interview, occasionally anecdotal. Unknown or colorful stories are addressed by experienced historians, writers, and researchers: the history of cinemas in Turnhout, traffic issues in the city, the story of Turnhout emigrants during the Dutch Revolt, missionaries among the American Indians, a doctor who traveled with Napoleon's troops to Russia, the flourishing of the printing and paper industry as well as the pharmaceutical industry these, and many other aspects of Turnhout and its surroundings are discussed in detail. For each chapter, concise biographies of individuals who were important for Turnhout or elsewhere in a specific domain are also included. A handy index ensures that you can quickly look up all the people and places mentioned throughout the book. [This description may have been translated by AI.]. Signed by Author.…

hardcober in-8, 243 pp., rijkelijk geillustreerd in kleur en z/w. ISBN 9056220225. 1600 g.…
