One of the leaders of the revival of wood-engraving in the 1920s, Irish artist and author Robert Gibbings was director of the Golden Cockerel Press for nine years. The first part of the volume is a descriptive bibliography of the sixty-seven books illustrated by Gibbings; and the second lists his work as artist, writer, printer and publisher in chronological order, and also records some publications containing references to his work. There is a note on the printing methods of the Golden Cockerel Press, contributed by A. C. Cooper who was pressman throughout the period of Gibbings' direction. Written by A. Mary Kirkus, edited by Gibbings's partner Patience Empson, and John Harris. In the original quarter cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities.
