In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. Over the last four decades video art has undergone numerous transformations. If in its early years, during the mid sixties, video was used by artists to record performances created in an isolated studio, it also offered an important creative environment which defined new spaces and an alternative language to the mass codes used by television. In the 80s video took on the form of a projected image that was capable of defining a totally new type of space inside which spectators could move while surrounded by a hypnotic electronic embrace. More recently with digital technology artists can compete with the magic of cinema and develop a singularly fertile exchange with it that has been fundamental in developing the poetic language of video works today. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

About the book >.>.> Quotidiana: The Continuity of the Everyday in 20th Century Art is a compelling exhibition catalogue produced by Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, focusing on the often overlooked theme of everyday life in contemporary art. The foreword by Ida Gianelli emphasises the museum's role in redefining and interpreting the artistic developments of the twentieth century, advocating for a perspective that transcends the traditional historicizing frameworks. This collection confronts the marginalisation of everyday existence, encompassing private life, intimacy, and politically censored topics such as sexuality, illustrating their increasing significance in philosophy, history, and social sciences. The exhibition explores the dynamic interplay between high and low art, challenging the tendency to idealise past artistic expressions. Rather than adhering to a chronological narrative, the exhibition showcases a coexistence of diverse languages and epochs, with the catalogue adopting a reverse chronological arrangement that spans from the end of the century back to its beginnings. This approach encourages a fresh interrogation of the past, aiming to draw connections to present-day cultural demands and societal contradictions. The catalogue highlights the importance of narratives in contemporary art, encouraging engagement with themes such as sexuality, ethnicity, and economic inequality?issues that resonate deeply within societal contexts. It posits that the growing integration of technology into everyday life demands a critical reflection in cultural work, advocating for a grounded understanding of rich, corporeal experiences amidst hyper-technological landscapes. Through this initiative, Gianelli and her colleagues hope to foster a moment of strategic reflection, inviting readers to reconsider the everyday as an essential aspect of modern artistic expression.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine.
