Questo volume è la prima pubblicazione che presenta e raccoglie gli stemmi apistici nazionali per censirli, confrontarli, analizzarli graficamente e simbolicamente. Un lavoro che può apparire controcorrente in un periodo come quello che stiamo vivendo, di crisi dei simboli e della fiducia nelle istituzioni rappresentative delle nostre città; ci sembra però che i Comuni, le Province, le Regioni e le Comunità Territoriali siano ancora tra le istituzioni più vicine, gradite e accessibili: a disposizione del cittadino. Studiarne i simboli e i motivi che hanno portato alla loro adozione è quindi importante, e ha un certo valore didattico, utile a comprendere meglio la nostra storia. Abbiamo ritrovato simboli molto antichi, oppure relativi a un passato più recente ma pressoché irriconoscibile (pensiamo ai numerosi stemmi di Comuni ormai urbanizzati che mostrano ancora simboli legati all'economia agricola), ma anche simboli ancora validi e nobilissimi, legati al valore del lavoro (non solo manuale), ai benefici dell'associarsi, all'importanza del percepirsi come comunità. Tutto questo in particolare in quegli stemmi di comunità (tra gli oltre diecimila stemmi italiani) che hanno api o figure loro attinenti, nel blasone (termine tecnico che non indica, come si pensa, il disegno dello stemma ma la sua descrizione a parole): un folto gruppo di esempi che ci parlano spesso sottovoce, ma che si rivelano molto interessanti a chi vorrà ascoltare la loro narrazione.(Dall'Introduzione).…
