All first editions and remarkably uniform considering they were published over a period of 18 years. Volumes One and Two are 1903 first editions. Volumes Three and Four are 1915 first editions. Volume Five is a 1921 first edition. With illustrations, photographs, and maps. Gerald Baldwin Brown, 1849-1932, was an English art historian. His most important work was the six-volume Arts in Early England (190337): he was working on the final volume at the time of his death, and it was completed by Eric Hyde (Lord Sexton), in 1937. In blue cloth bindings. Externally, slightly bumped, with fading to the spines, with a small library label to the spine. Several hinges are strained. Internally, generally firmly bound, with light browning. There are occasional ink library stamps, with an ink reference number to each title page, and a lending bookplate to the front pastedowns.
