The bubal hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus), or northern hartebeest, was a subspecies of hartebeest formerly found across North Africa and the Sahel until its extinction in the early 20th century. Known for its sandy brown coat, U-shaped horns, and social nature, the last known specimen died in Paris in 1923. Plate size 210 x 170mm, closely trimmed on the right 280 by 190mm (11 by 7½ inches).
