With Several Originals, By Eminent Writers'. Each v…olume with an engraved title vignette depicting musicians and with opening vignettes depicting in vols. I: Abelard as hooded monk at sea; II: A shepherd and his flock; III: Mary Queen of Scots; and IV: a valetudinarian; all by Isaac Taylor. In contemporary speckled calf, board edges and spines gilt and with burgundy and black letter-pieces (loss to title-piece on vol. IV). Chipping to heads and tails of spines and mild bumping to some corners, but overall a handsome set.
