Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. First edition. The incidents include a masqued ball at Vauxhall, a night at cards for high stakes, in which a remarkable game of whist is played, and an elopement. Kisses are plentiful, and blows are exchanged. In those days the press gang was a national institution, highwaymen were not extinct, smuggling was carried n all along the coast, and Gretna Green marriages were everyday occurrences."
