Historiker Georg Pray (1723-1801) studierte Theologie in Preßburg, Wien und Raab, trat 1740 in die Gesellschaft Jesu ein und war in verschiedenen ungarischen Städten als Lehrer tätig. Seit 1759 lehrte er als Prof. der Poetik am Theresianum in Wien, befaßte sich mit der Geschichte Ungarns und wurde nach der Auflösung des Jesuitenordens von Kaiserin Maria Theresia zum amtlichen Geschichtsschreiber Ungarns ernannt.
