His unique perception endowed his sensuous experiments in pattern and textures, in atmosphere and light with a stature achieved by few artists. Working in the last decade of the nineteenth century and the first several decades of the twentieth, he perfected his distinctive style, becoming one of the great colorists of all time. This major reappraisal contributes a wealth of new scholarship. Based on letters, sketchbooks, contemporary articles and reviews, it also brings to life an exciting and pivotal era, for Prendergast was in the forefront of modern painting in America. He exhibited as one of The Eight, becoming known as one of the "Red Hots, " and participated in the Armory Show. His experiences, including living and working in Europe, allowed him to draw on a wide variety of sources - including Cezanne, Signac, the Renaissance Italian painter, and Watteau. Out of these he created his own truly unique idiom." ; VG. Book.

Zustand: Gut. Zustand: Gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This text provides a lively introduction to pure mathematics. It begins with sets, functions and relations, proof by induction and contradiction, complex numbers, vectors and matrices, and provides a brief introduction to group theory. It moves onto analysis, providing a gentle introduction to epsilon-delta technology and finishes with continuity and functions. The book features numerous exercises of varying difficulty throughout the text.
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Good. 658pg tome offering a history of communism, with dozens of contributors from a variety of world perspectives and time periods. An excellent overall copy. Binding is solid, square, sturdy, tight. Boards are clean and firm, slight bump to the bottom corner of the back board but no other wear of note. Interior is bright and clean and free of marks except for a small, neat, gift inscription on the front free endpaper, which also has a couple of fingerprint smudges. Else interior perfect and appears unread, which makes sense since its from the collection of an eminent marxist scholar who received this as a gift but had probably studied it all quite directly over the years. Dustjacket is mostly clean and attractive, with some light bumping and wear around the edges and with one significant horizontal scratch to the back panel. DJ now in brodart.
