In Auseinandersetzung mit Claude Romanos Ereignishermeneutik lehnt der Autor all jene Ereignisdefinitionen ab, die spezielle phänomenologische Aspekte der Ereigniserfahrung als wesentliche Merkmale von Ereignissen ansehen. Darüber hinaus kritisiert er Ereignistheorien, die Ereignisse nur auf der Grundlage qualitativer Aspekte ihrer Erfahrung definieren, ohne sie in einem empirischen Rahmen zu kontextualisieren.
