Collated, complete. The French playwright, author and actor Jean-Baptiste Poquelin (1622-1673), commonly known by his stage name Molière, was one of the greatest writers in world literature. This two volume set contains 31 plays and 6 poems written by Molière, including his noteworthy plays Le Tartuffe and Le Misanthrope. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In quarter calf bindings. Externally smart, with shelf wear to the boards and extremities, and rubbing to the head and tail of the spines, resulting in small losses to the head and tail of the spine to Vol I. Boards a bit scuffed at extremities with brief exposure at corners, spines darkened, textblock uniformly toned and a bit brittle due to inferior paper quality, early 20th century ex libris of C.G. and C.P. Lowe to front pastedowns; still, a Very Good, still quite attractive set, handsomely illustrated.
