Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. 141 pages. Biography of the hero of the 1972 hockey summit series between Canada and the Soviet Union. "Tells Henderson's story from his childhood in southern Ontario when his father, Garnet, had trained him and encouraged him to make the NHL. On his way up, Paul Henderson suffered from the inequities of the feudal farm-team system, and saw his best friend in junior hockey black-balled because he wanted an education. He was one of the first to fight the system and improve players' conditions. Few players in the game have given as much as Paul Henderson. This book tells how and why he did it." - from dust jacket. Black and white photographic plates. Book clean and unmarked with light to moderate wear. Above-average wear to dust jacket now preserved in archival-grade Brodart cover. Nice solid copy overall. (Hopefully Henderson will one day be named to the Hockey Hall of Fame for his exploits on behalf of Canada.).

In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. First edition copies of these three entertaining and scarce thrillers, in the original unclipped dust wrappers. The first editions of three works in the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Library stamp to the rear paste down of Dead Hero.Three scarce thriller novels by three different writers. Dead to the World (1959), otherwise known as The Blonde in Suite 14, is No. 247 of the American Bloodhound Series and the sixth book in the Gil Vine Hotel Detective Mystery series by Prentice Winchell (1895-1976), under the pseudonym of Stewart Sterling. In this novel, the hotel security officer Gil Vine stakes his job and his life on a hunch which lead him southward in a blinding blizzard. Dead Hero (1964) is No. 464 of the American Bloodhound Series and the seventh title in the Brock Callahan series by William Campbell Gault (1910-1995). In this work, when the popular private investigator Brock "The Rock" Callahan finds himself suspected of the murder of a former teammate, he becomes as much the hunted as the hunter. Nothing but the Night (1968) is a thriller novel by John Blackburn (1923-1993). In this novel, murderess Anna Harb goes on a rampage in the hospital in which her daughter is being treated, and questions of psychic possession and psychological trauma arise. This book was made into a 1973 film starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. In the publisher's original cloth bindings, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, cloth is very bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to the fore edge of Dead to the World and a library stamp to the rear paste down of Dead Hero. Dust wrappers remain mostly bright, with chipping to the upper extremities and to the tail of the spine of the wrap of Dead to the World, and a little creasing to the upper extremities of the wraps to Dead Hero and Nothing but the Night. Tape repairs to the reverse of the wraps to Dead to the World. Very Good. book.
