Erstausgabe
Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. First edition. Orchestration by Lee Terry. Small quarto. Single bifolium with a single sheet insert printed on the recto only and folded three times to make three pages. Light edgewear, rubbing to the exterior, still a very good and complete copy. For voice and piano. The verso of the bifolium features an ad for *Ten Lessons for the Piano* by Zez Confrey, and the back cover features ads for "The Kiss I can't Forget" by Philip Spitalny, and "The Lonsesomest Girl in Town" by Al Dubin, Jimmy McHugh, and Irving Mills, along with images of their covers. The front cover states, "Featured with great success by ('Ukulele Ike') Cliff Edwards" and features a photograph of Edwards in blackface. At one point, a company called, Progressive Musical Instruments sold a signature Cliff Edwards ukulele that had a cartoon of him on the headstock that looked very much like the image of him presented here, in blackface with an oversized cap. Although he later moved away from this part of his act, recording many hit songs like "Singin' in the Rain" and becoming the voice of Jiminy Cricket in the 1940 Walt Disney animated film, *Pinocchio*, soon after he would accept the role of Jim Crow in *Dumbo*, a casting choice explicitly influenced by his earlier act according to the website *Cartoon Research*. "Nobody's Business" appears to have been one of Edwards' less popular performances, but nevertheless this piece remains an artifact from the man's complicated and storied career.
