Gray & Son, Cambridge, in half brown morocco with blue marbled boards, lettered in gilt to backstrip, gilt rules, a little rubbed and worn, the boards close to detached, t.e.g., some browning to edges from leather, sound. A scarce book, this the author's own copy; a selection of stories encountered by Gaselee, whilst Pepys Librarian at Magdalene College (also engaged on war-work at the Foreign Office) and cataloguing the Coptic manuscripts at Cambridge University Library, with charming illustrations by his Eton contemporary (and fellow King's Scholar) John Mavrogordato. Gaselee had attended King's College, Cambridge; Mavrogordato went up to Exeter College, Oxford and was later the University's Bywater and Sotheby Professor of Byzantine and Modern Greek Language and Literature.
