A book detailing the history of Stanford University athletics. Signed by seven Stanford athletes on a two front blank pages. Bob Mathias (track), Janet Evans (swimming), and Jack McDowell (baseball) have signed on one page, with Ken Margerum (football) signing on another page and white labels on the same page signed by Steve Stenstrom (football), Adam Keefe (basketball) and Darrin Nelson (football). Mathias, now deceased, was a two-time Olympic champion in the decathlon and a former U.S. Congressman. He became the youngest Olympic gold medalist in track and field at the 1948 games in London. He was 17 years old and it was only his second-ever decathlon event, winning two previously in the United States. He won a similar gold medal at the 1952 games in Helsinki, Finland. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins but he never signed. Fine condition. $150.00.
