Garnett was an award winning English writer and publisher of the twentieth century. He received the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for 'Lady into Fox' (1922). He was a prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group.These works are illustrated with wood engravings by his wife, Ray Garnett. With engravings throughout the text in 'A Man in the Zoo' and with a frontispiece to 'The Sailor's Return'. In the original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. There is some wear to the cloth in these areas. The spine labels are slightly faded. The hinges are strained but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. Very Good. book.

A collection of short stories by T. F. Powys. Containing 'The White Paternoster', 'A Box of Sweets', 'The Golden Gates', 'Mr Guppy's Garden', 'A Pretty Babe', 'The Hunted Beast', and more. Written by Theodore Francis Powys. Powys was a short-story writer and novelist, who is best known for his novel 'Mr Weston's Good Wine'. Powys was deeply religious, and was heavily influenced by the Bible. With an illustration to the title page by Ray Garnett. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'B. R. Overbury'. In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with patterned paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A little discolouration to the spine and to the head of the front joint. Five vintage photographs from the 1935 film, including three double-weight reference photographs (one on-the-set) and two test Photographs Photographers, one of Joan Bennett and one of Billie Burke. All five photographs with a studio stamp crediting photographer Ray Jones on the versos, and four with mimeo snipes on the same. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. A wealthy patriarch is continuously irritated and dismayed by his family's outrageous behavior. After winding up in prison for tax evasion, he befriends his cellmate, a bootlegger and fellow tax evader, whom he names as executor of his estate upon his release. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine overall, one with light creasing and edgewear.
