Softcover. Zustand: Very Good. Die-cut shape book cut into the form of an elephant playing an oboe(?). Small folio. Illustrated in color. Alternate leaves cut into four or five sections, so the images can be folded over onto the uncut versos in order to make silly pictures. Old neat and stable tape repair at the spine, modest rubbing at the edges, else a nice very good copy.

Zustand: Poor. No. 601. Childen's Favorite Series No. 3. Leaves patented Jan. 15, 1907; Mar. 10, 1914. Animals are pictured in jungle and in circus settings. There are two leaves, the second of which has 4 horizontal cuts. This makes 6 flaps that enable various figures to be created. Volume is cut in the shape of an elephant, standing upright and dressed in a circus outfit; the front cover shows the elephant from the front, the back cover shows the elephant from behind. Front cover detached. Flap page has tape repairs. Tear in rear. Online descriptions suggest there were 12 p. originally, meaning much of this example is missing. Title continues: "Greatest show on earth: an up-to-date program of big circus acts: the newest and most attractive amusement features in the world exhibited for the first time in this delightful exhibition: by turning the little leaves of this book back and forth the pictures will match any way they are turned, showing 120 wonderful animals performing: the only show of strictly new and original methods: not for a day but for always.".
