Clark Gable stars as a lawyer who helps manage the estate of his late brother, who left behind a saucy Italian wife (Loren) and a young son. Gable also managed to gain significant weight during the filming in Italy, due primarily to his acquired taste for the local cuisine. This would be the last film of his to be released during his lifetime. 8 x 10 inches. Pinholes to the top and bottom borders, else Near Fine.

Das 1939 entstandene Südstaaten-Epos war mit vier Stunden Laufzeit zu seiner Zeit der Film mit der längsten Spieldauer und mit vier Millionen Dollar Produktionskosten auch der bis dahin teuerste, aber in Folge der kommerziell erfolgreichste Film der Filmgeschichte. Die deutsche Synchronfassung entstand 1953. Der Film erhielt 13 Oscar-Nominierungen und gewann acht - damals einsamer Rekord, der erst 1959 eingestellt wurde. Anläßlich des 75.
