Photograph album with blue plastic cover, 10 x 14.5cm, 14 leaves with 23 photos inserted, some colour, some black and white, of groups and individuals, 11 x 9cm or smaller. A little soiled at edges, in good condition. An interesting piece of history from the Third Indochina War and the Sino-Vietnamese conflicts (1979?1991). In 1987, Chinese soldiers were primarily engaged in the "Two Mountains" campaign along the Sino-Vietnamese border, a series of defensive and offensive operations following the 1979 war. Although the album opens with action photographs of Chinese troops crossing the Sino-Vietnamese border, the remaining images are all remarkably normal despite the martial subject matter. One photograph, datable to the 1980s on the evidence of the Type 85 PLA uniforms worn, shows a pair of comrades-in-arms posing for the camera, with one wearing a green hand-knitted jumper emblazoned with an "OK" motif in white. The irregular, slightly uneven lettering suggests the design was imitated from memory rather than copied from a printed source, hinting at the informal, secondhand routes by which fragments of international style reached even the remote borderlands of China. The "Jiangsu Province Comfort Group" (??????) who provided this album in December 1987, was part of a national effort to support soldiers on the front lines. Groups from various provinces travelled to the Yunnan and Guangxi border regions to boost morale. They distributed gifts, performed shows, and provided photographic albums to the troops as souvenirs of their service and the nation's support. On the upper cover of this photographic album are the faintly discernible words "??: ???????", roughly translating to "Presented to the officers and men of the Yunnan front".…

IP signed photograph, shows the electro-industrial band `Front Line Assembly` in a group portrait, 12 x 8 inch, signed by the pictured band members (Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber) in blue felt tip, obtained In-Person in Berlin (11.08.2022), in very fine condition.

A substantial Civil War letter with interesting and quite vivid content written by Charles Morfoot, 101st Ohio Infantry Volunteers, on June 26, 1864 at Altoona Pass, Georgia to his wife Elizabeth back home in Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio. It's orange envelope has a pink 3 cent stamp with the bust of George Washignton and is postmarked "Nashville, July 7, 1864". Morfoot had been a bricklayer and enlisted in August, 1862. He saw action at Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Resaca, Kennesaw Mountain, Jonesboro, Franklin and Nashville (see Dyer, p. 1541). The letter is written on ledger paper that is approximately 5 x 3" and was stitched together at the corner. It is in legible pencil, and is 6 leaves, or 12 pages. ~Some highlights include: "We are on the front line and on the skirmish line it has been more civil last night than usual there was not much shooting all night, we have to keep lo in our ditches. We had lots fun talking with the reb skirmish line at night" || ".they have broke up Morgan's Band and captured half his command and retaken most of his prisoners" || ".our regiment loss some, I think not more than 8 or 10, we were not on the front line. our loss is heavy altogether they have been carrying off wounded ever since it commenced and are still there are not more than one hundred men at that work. I judge our loss altogether at one thousand. It was attacked at 3 different places." || ".it is hard for our wounded. Many living in the hot sun a long time and many perhaps that we can't get at for our men went right up to their works. One color barer was bayoneted on the works and their color captured. I think this is a lesson for our Generals not to charge on works of that kind some of them I know was killed, General Harker." || "One think more our Lieut. got a bullet through his beard and his thumb and skinned it a little. Lancé en 1927 sur la ligne Le Havre - New-York il est considéré comme le plus beau paquebot de l'Atlantique. Après la guerre et maintes péripéties il reprendra du service en 1949.
