In der Praxis hat sich vielerorts die Verwendung heuristischer Lösungsverfahren, insbesesondere Genetischer Algorithmen, zur Planung durchgesetzt.Am Beispiel Genetischer Algorithmen in der Automobilproduktion zeigt Albrecht Fritzsche auf, welche Möglichkeiten solche Suchverfahren zur Verbesserung von Planung und Steuerung in der Praxis eröffnen.
