Jobie Hughes would end up leaving the series after the second book over creative and contractual differences, leaving James Frey to write the series himself. In finishing out the series it is known that James Frey used at least one ghostwriter, Greg Boose, who wrote/helped write "The Revenge of Seven". The "Lorien Legacies" series can be split into two series; "Lorien Legacies" and "Lorien Legacies Reborn", a sequel series. "Lorien Legacies" consists of the first seven books in the series, "Lorien Legacies Reborn" comprising the the most recent three. "I Am Number Four" was the first book in the "Lorien Legacies" series. Released in 2010, it saw almost immediate success, spending seven consecutive weeks at the top spot of the New York Times Bestseller children's list. This early success would see the greenlighting of a sequel, "The Power of Six" and release of a movie in 2011. Though the "I Am Number Four" film was financially successful, earning nearly triple its cost, the highly negative critical reception ended the plans for any sequels. Both "I Am Number Four" and "The Power of Six" would reach the #1 spot on the NYT Bestseller list, and they are regarded by many critics and fans as the best of the series.
