Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Good +. First edition, second state. 303 p. 24 cm. There are 16 colour plates, including the frontispiece, and numerous partly-coloured in-text drawings. Light green cloth, decorated in darker green and red on the front cover and spine, and in dark green on the rear cover. Some dark marks on lower front, spine ends a bit bumped. Small ink signature and stamps on front endpapers. Some marks on bottom corner of rear free endpaper. Illustrations between pages 169 and 184 and 221 and 236 are coloured in turquoise. The events of the book alternate between Noland and Ix, two neighboring regions to Baum's more famous Land of Oz. Baum himself beleived Queen Zixi was the best book he had written. The illustrator Frederick Richardson worked on editions of Aesop's Fables, Hans Christian Andersen, and Andrew Lang's Fairy Books, but is probably best remembered for illustrating works by Baum.
