Owner signature and marginalia (throughout the first 160 pages) of activist David Dellinger ("Dave Dellinger"), one of the Chicago Seven; see below. Wear to the wraps, with creasing down the toned spine, light spotting on the page edges, still a very good copy. David Dellinger was an American pacifist and an activist for nonviolent social change, well known as one of the Chicago Seven, who were put on trial in 1969 over allegations that Dellinger and several others had conspired to cross state lines with the intention of inciting a riot, after antiwar protesters had interrupted the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Dellinger's marginal notes often act as a one-sided dialogue with the author. He underlines the sentence "The real difference between [Bayard] Rustin and Dellinger was not that either changed his position on violence, but that Rustin sided with the U.S in Vietnam and Dellinger with the revolution," to which he jots "Thank you, Fred!" Other notes voice both praise and opposition, one simply reading "Good for you, Fred!", another declaring "Unfair, Fred! One of few instances so far of forced special pleading." A very interesting copy, owned and annotated by an important figure in the American counterculture movement of the late '60's.

Eight items related to the 1968 presidential campaign of Fred Halstead and Paul Boutelle on the Socialist Workers Party ticket. Four items are published by Young Socialists for Halstead and Boutelle: "Young Socialists for Halstead and Boutelle" and "Join Young Socialists for Halstead and Boutelle" (two copies of a trifold pamphlet with matching contents but slightly different covers and titles); "Young Socialists for Halstead and Boutelle" (with the same title as the prior pamphlet but different contents); and a sticker: "Black Control of Black Communities: vote Socialist Workers" (advertised in the pamphlets). The other four pamphlets are published by the Socialist Workers Campaign Committee: "Vote Socialist Workers in 68"; "A Letter to GI's on the '68 Elections"; "The Socialist Candidates in 68"; and "The Case for a Black Party" (22pp.; introduction by Paul Boutelle). A modest but engaging collection of campaign materials for the 1968 presidential election published by the SWP and its affiliates; Halstead and Boutelle were on the ballot in 19 states.
