With many illustrations and some original sketches by F.A.G. Pape. The book was written by H. Hamel Smith and F.A.G. Pape. Second Edition. Forewords have been added to both editions by Sir W.H. Lever. I will add photos of a few pages, of the many pages, of the Synopsis of Contents and of the two pages of the list of Illustrations. The book is well illustrated, with about 75 illustrations spread throughout the text. The authors have filled the book with practical advice, tinged with a bit of colonial attitude. It opens with a 40 page introductory chapter on health in the tropics. It concludes with a chapter on "Farming with Dynamite." The book also has its share of advertizements, for other books and for plantation equipment and machinery. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are slighty soiled and darkened but still presentable (please see the photos). They are a bit rubbed but only very lightly bumped. Inside, someone has pasted a newspaper clipping about seeking finance for coco-nut plantations which has led to some foxing of the front endpaper. The interior pages and plates are generally clean and presentable with some occasional specks of soiling but nothing extreme. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound.
