Blue buckram with bright gilt titling to the spine, and with a fine gilt decoration to the front. The boards are clean and in near fine condition, with only negligible rubbing to the spine ends. The pastoral lament 'Amyntas' written in Latin by Thomas Watson, reprinted from the unique copy, dated 1585, held at the British Museum. Alongside is a reprint of the almost line-by-line translation by Abraham Fraunce, written in 1587. With facsimiles of the original title pages, an errata slip, and an introduction by Franklin M. Dickey. Thomas Watson is now chiefly remembered for his Hekatompathia or Passionate Century of Love (1582), but in the 1590s was highly regarded for his Latin poetry.
