Die Abhandlung des Jesuiten Francois Vigiers (1590-1647) aus Rouen, Nordfrankreich, "De praecipuis graecae dictionis idiotismis" erschien erstmals 1632 in Paris und erlebte über zwei Jahrhundert zahlreiche Neuauflagen in ganz Europa. Eine bedeutende Aufwertung erfuhr das Werk durch die Bearbeitung und Ergänzung der Hellenisten Hoogeveen, Zeune und Hermann, was eine weitere Verwendung in deutschen, englischen und holländischen Schulen nach sich zog. - Kapitale und Außengelenke leicht berieben, Papierbezug am Rücken leicht rissspurig. Insgesamt leicht angestaubt, mit einzelnem Fleck auf dem Kopfschnitt. Besitzeintrag von E. Scheffer, datiert Marburg 1832, mit Tinte auf dem Innendeckel sowie "Weilburg 1829" auf dem fliegenden Vorsatz. Remarkable for its longevity, this guide was originally published at Paris by Sébastien Cramoisy in 1627, and quickly became a standard text; the series of augmented editions prepared by Hermann carried it well into the nineteenth century. The author was professor of humanities and rhetoric at Bourges and Paris, and edited a Latin translation with commentary of the Preparatio Evangelica of Eusebius.
