Macirone war Aid-de-Camp von Murat, 1808-1815 König von Neapel von Napoleons Gnaden. Murat wechselte die Seiten angesichts der sich abzeichnenden Niederlage Napoleons, schloß sich aber Napoleon während der 100-Tage-Herrschaft wieder an; beim Versuch, sein Königreich Neapel zurückzuholen wurde er besiegt und anschließend standrechtlich erschossen.
