Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. All the maps are present and in excellent condition. No library marks or handwriting present, nothing torn or loose. The upper outside corner does show a bump that can be seen throughout the book and to a lesser degree at the lower outside corners.…

The first book, The Admiralties, contains 151 pages and shows a publication date of 1 December 1945. This book only grades as a low "good" as the exterior shows creasing, scuffing and soiling, along with edge and corner wear. There is also a document stamp on the front that is also on the title page. The rear cover is torn from the spine about 1 inch at the bottom and the title page contains an address label as well as a document stamp stating the book originally belonged to HQ CO. "C" 211th INF., Florida National Guard, Hollywood FL. The second book titled To Bizerte With the II Corps (published 1943) grades as a high VG and contains 80 pages plus numerous foldout maps, all of which appear to be in excellent condition. This book does not contain any handwriting or bookplates, or any other markings. The condition shows some toning and soiling from handling wear along with also bumps and wear to the edges and corners. Each book has been placed in a separate mylar bag. This sale is for both books which are shown in the photos. One book grades G to G-, the other has a condition grade of VG (overall average for both books G+).…

The Code of the U.S. Fighting Force is a code of conduct that is an ethics guide and a United States Department of Defense directive consisting of six articles to members of the United States Armed Forces, addressing how they should act in combat when they must evade capture, resist while a prisoner or escape from the enemy. It is considered an important part of U.S. military doctrine and tradition, but is not formal military law in the manner of the Uniform Code of Military Justice or public international law, such as the Geneva Conventions. The contents include a Letter of Transmittal, Background, A Brief Look at History, The American Fighting Man and Korea, A Code of Conduct for the Future, Korean Summary, The Road Ahead for America and the Armed Forces and an Addenda. During the Korean War in the early 1950s, Chinese and North Korean forces captured American military personnel as prisoners of war. Unlike America's previous wars, these American prisoners then faced a deadly new enemy, the Eastern World's POW environment. It was the first American war that U.S. prisoners of war were viewed by an enemy as more than soldiers from the other side temporarily restrained from conducting war and whose desire to control the minds of U.S. prisoners extended the war into the POW camps.
