New edition, xi, 416pp, illustrated with a colour frontispiece plate and 4 further monochrome plates, all by M D Johnston, light spotting to edges and title page/prelims/end matter, green cloth with darker green lettering and illustration to spine and upper board, edges and corners a little rubbed, some speck marks to spine, hinge just starting to crack at title page but binding still sound. Castle Blair was the first children's novel to be published by Flora Shaw (1852-1929). Based on the author's childhood in Ireland, it enjoyed considerable success and remained popular well into the twentieth century.
