Together with three additional wood-engravings in brown printed wrappers with se…parate title page and a grey portfolio containing nine colour plates with the title colour plate "Royal Flush" mounted on the upper cover. All housed in a cloth solander box, spine with printed label. A book and other items all in Fine condition in a Very Good but surface-soiled solander box. Derrick Harris (1919-1960) was a British engraver and illustrator. He worked for the BBC Radio Times and designed full page covers for The Listener Magazine. He designed wood engravings for the Festival of Britain and an unpublished children's book "A Royal Flush". In 1957 he became chairman of the Illustrator's Group of the Society of Industrial Artists.

A fine copy. Derrick Harris sustained the medium of wood engraving through the 1950s when it was struggling, admired by fellow artists, his suicide at the age of 40 affected many of them deeply including Edward Ardizzone who wrote "First he made a niche for himself as a good artist in an exacting craft, then as a dear friend whom we loved".
