In den WarenkorbZustand: VERY GOOD. First printing. "More social service work in Prague" - A sequel to 'The Mounted Falcon' which told of the adventures of a "vivacious, adventurous, friendly American girl who finds herself in golden-towered Prague in the days after the war, during the shaping of the new republic of Czechoslovakia." In this nov…el, she and her friends establish a youth hostel for students from many countries who are attending the University of Prague - but the lightheartedness is offset somewhat by hints of the coming of World War II. Quite a bit harder to find than "The Mounted Falcon." Illustated with drawings at the head of each chapter by Edward Cassell. 228 pp. Good condition in red cloth with black lettering - sunning to the spine, a few splotches to the covers, binding is tight and straight, contents are very good.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'High Adventure' is a compelling exploration of the immigrant experience in early 20th-century America, focusing specifically on the lives of Slavic pioneers. Written by Fjeril Hess, who was deeply involved in social and missionary work, the book delves into the challenges and triumphs of fam…ilies settling in a new land while navigating the complexities of cultural identity. The work highlights the vital role of community outreach and missionary education in fostering social integration and spiritual support during a period of significant demographic change.Through a narrative lens, Hess illustrates the 'high adventure' of building a new life, emphasizing the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of cross-cultural understanding. The book serves as both a historical record of Slavic-American history and a testament to the educational efforts designed to bridge the gap between old-world traditions and new-world opportunities. Readers will find a rich depiction of the industrial and rural landscapes where these immigrants labored, as well as the religious institutions that sought to serve them. It remains a valuable resource for those interested in the history of social service, ethnic studies, and the development of home missions in the United States. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
