A collection of short stories and verse for children, illustrated throughout with numerous engraved full-page b/w images. No authors or illustrators are credited, although many of the engraved images contain artists initials in the frame. These include images by Henry Fitzcook (b.1824), J. Gadsby (John Gadsby, 1808-1889?), B. Fleming (Benjamin Fleming), T. Cobb, A. T. Elwes (Alfred Thomas Elwes, 1841-1917) and many others. Publisher's advertisements on the back cover. The publication date is not given, but based on the back cover, it seems to have been published some time around 1883. Binding with light rubbing to extremities.
