He not only went about the study in his garden at Colesbourne, Gloucestershire, but gathered the best botanical experts and Fitch the very best plant illustrator to produce this comprehensive and respected monograph. Seven parts bound in one. [4], xv, [2] pp. Illustrated title, 48 hand coloured lithographed plates by Fitch, two hand coloured lithographed maps on one sheet, mounted albumen photograph by Bourne. Handsomely bound in half calf with extensive gilt decoration to six spine compartments, gilt titling to the spine. Marbled paper covered boards, binding tight, hinges firm, a little general wear [please see images]. Contents exceptionally clean without spotting or toning. Original marbled endpapers.
