It is argued that, for this reason, the universe then remains in this state indefinitely.The trajectory of the deceleration parameter of the universe from the present time into the indefinite future, as shown in the diagram in the body of the work, is then simply an exponential curve followed by a horizontal straight line.

In 1859 Bernhard Riemann published a short paper (which only extended to six manuscript pages) concerned with an investigation of the number of prime numbers less than any given number. The outcome of the work revolutionised number theory and in the years following has resulted in almost what could be termed an industry in a particular aspect of his work, now called the Riemann Hypothesis. Riemann showed that all the zero values of the zeta function in the positive part of the complex plane should lie in a region between x = 0 and x = 1, and, in particular, conjectured that they all should lie on the line of symmetry x = ¿. This conjecture, which is the basis of many other conjectures in Number Theory is considered by many mathematicians to be the currently greatest unsolved problem in Mathematics¿so much so that the Clay Mathematical Institute of Boston, Mass. has offered one million dollars to anyone who can produce a solution. No attempt is made here to verify the hypothesis, for its validity is not required. A procedure is developed here, by means of which, the zeros of Riemann's zeta function in the so-called Critical Strip of the complex plane may be assigned values of the prime number counting function. The procedure is novel and uses the concept of a Dirichlet line in the complex plane and a quantity called a nearodd (both of which are defined in the text). The process may be rendered self-contained, in the sense that, when it is associated with Gram's series the only input required is the magnitude of the imaginary part of the function s = x + iy which will locate a Riemann zero on the Critical Line; vast numbers of zeros may be accessed in [2]. Further, it is shown that the Riemann conjecture is irrelevant in the assigning of any particular value of the prime number counting function to the corresponding Riemann zero. It is suggested, pace Wiles, who obtained a proof of Fermat's Last Theorem as a by-product of his verification of the Taniyama-Shimura conjecture, that, in the light of Godel's incompleteness theorems, Riemann's hypothesis may be undecidable.

It is shown that there are a new set of numbers given by F = (M + 2)/3 where M is a Mersenne number. it is found that when M is prime then F is prime. however, it is also found that prime numbers may be generated when M is composite and the index of the Mersenne number is prime, but this is not invariably the case.An accelerated method of trial division is derived and from which we construct one row matrices which we have called, templates. These are found to be of great utility in determining factors of numbers, and their 'extent' is equal to the number of digits in a number of interest. The template may be easily extended by a simple process explained in the text. Extension of a template by one unit increases that range of numbers which may be examined by an order of magnitude.

Amongst these functions, H_(1¿2) is unique, in that, the magnitude of its value at the intersection of any Dirichlet line [1] with Riemann¿s Critical Line [2] is shown to be absolutely zero and that there are no other zeros of this function anywhere else in the Critical Strip. There may be other zeros of this function elsewhere in the complex plane, but this paper argues that this can never be proved; this is a feature of any other of the H_a whose zeros can be posited to exist at the intersection of a vertical line passing through any abscissa of choice with a Dirichlet line but, can never be shown to be exactly zero, since this would require that the Dirichlet alternating eta series associated with the real part of these H_a be summed to infinity. It follows from the above that, for the function, H_(1¿2) Riemann¿s hypothesis is verified.

It is shown that each integer in the infinite set of the integers has an associated Riemann zero and that the imaginary parts of the complex number at which the zeros are located are proportional to the 'local' asymptote to the prime counting function. A connection between the prime counting function and the zeta function is established. A limited distribution of the Riemann zeros corresponding to their respective prime numbers is constructed and it is seen that, at least over this range, the two are correlated, albeit non-linearly.It is demonstrated that the imaginary part of the complex number locating a Riemann zero may, for any integer that can be articulated, be obtained by a few keystrokes of a hand calculator.

The structures developed are considerably more massive than the number of particles from which they are formed and are argued to be candidates for dark matter since they have no electrical charge, no electrons, hence no chemistry and no photonic emission. They can only interact with each other and other baryons through the agency of gravity. Further, one of the forms is much more likely to clump than the other and raises the possibility that there are large-scale formations of different types of the substance, one of which may more easily be disrupted than the other.This may present further challenges for astronomical experimenters in the task of observing and identifying dark matter, for, on a large scale the distribution of dark matter within, for example, a galaxy may be unique to that constellation. In addition, detection of these structures on a small scale, by the usual method of collision with other matter, may be rendered difficult, if not impossible, for the structures can only be accelerated to high speeds by interacting with intense gravitational fields.

In conjunction with a prime number counting function denoted by pi(x) we can determine the number of primes in any row of the matrix and their location using the prime number search method developed, which uses the prime number counting function data compiled from various sources by A V Kulsha. The columns of the matrix are of infinite extent and in some there are either one or no prime numbers. In a column where there is a single prime number, this without exception appears in the first row. The matrix shows that there are prime numbers which can never be twinned and that it is not possible, with the exception of 3,5,7 that three consecutive odd numbers can be prime. Further it is demonstrated, in some of the rows, even although the distribution of the primes is random, that it is possible to predict the next prime, and in some instances the prime following it, thus predicting a set of twins. Moreover in many cases the gap between consecutive primes can be predicted. The work, in particular the Discussion contains numerous examples . Any odd number can, in principle be located precisely within the matrix. In the Appendix it is shown how, using only the prime number counting function data, to determine the primality (or otherwise) of any odd number without examining forensically the number itself. It is noted that, in contradistinction to formulae which predict particular prime numbers, such as those of Mersenne and Sophie Germain, the analysis presented here makes no distinction between any of the 'types' of primes.

Further, the existence of Grandi identities are identified and it is shown also that all of the infinite, convergent series contained within the infinitely large set may be expressed in terms of Grandi's series. All of the functions from which the corresponding series are generated are shown to possess an indefinite number of derivatives of increasing order, each of which is expressible as an infinite series, and are hence ideal candidates for expansion in terms of Taylor's series.

It is envisag…ed as a spherical surface from which all of the CMB photons emanate and centred on the Earth. Because of the opacity of the universe prior to the formation of this surface this taken to be the farthest redshift that may be observed.The discovery of the cosmic jerk was made, independently, by groups led by Schmidt and Perlmutter; the effect is shown clearly in their data as presented by Krauss, p85, [3]. It was found that approximately five billion years bp the expansion of the universe appeared to change suddenly from a state of deceleration to one of acceleration and is attributed to the entity called dark energy. It is not known whether this acceleration will persist into the indefinite future. Indeed, the future of the universe is a subject of much discussion, not to say, controversy.In this work the vacuum of the universe is modelled as a very large set of conjugate pairs of bi-modal, frequency-quantised, simple quantum harmonic oscillators, one having positive energy, the other, negative energy. Further, each pair of oscillators occupies a cubical enclosure of side equal to the wavelength corresponding to their current frequency, and related through the relationship, nil=c. The mode of action of the harmonic oscillators is explained in detail and is shown to exist in two modes, the sterile mode and the free vacuon mode, the former being the overwhelmingly-dominant state of the universe. According to the model developed here the universe, prior to inception was cold, dark and empty and had existed in this state into the indefinite past. Inception was induced by a quantum fluctuation casting the universe into a free vacuon mode and the baryonic and dark matters were formed cold during this phase. The light elements, which are taken to be evidence of a Big Bang are shown to be formed later by an isolated nuclear fusion event occurring during a free vacuon mode. The so-called surface of last scattering is also generated by the heating of mass during a free vacuon mode.
