Lettre d'une page dactylographiée, 29,5cm x 21cm, avec signature autographe, adressée de Neuchâtel par Tony Fernandes, le 21 février 1967, à Jacques Grippa, Directeur politique de l'hebdomadaire "La Voix du Peuple", organe du Parti Communiste de Belgique - PCB (pro-chinois), dont il était le Secrétaire du Comité Central. Il se déclare appartenir "à un mouvement politique établi à l'intérieur de l'Angola et qui ne s'est pas encore fait connaître" (il s'agit de l'Union Nationale pour l'Indépendance Totale de l'Angola - UNITA, créée en mars 1966 suite à une scission au sein du Front National de Libération de l'Angola). "Actuellement je suis - sur ordre du parti - en train de me former à l'Université afin de compléter la formation politique et militaire reçue dans un pays fidèle au marxisme-léninisme et anti révisionniste. Ceci pour vous dire que j'ai suivi l'évolution de votre parti par son organe "La Voix du Peuple" et je peux vous dire sans hésiter que votre idéal est aussi le nôtre". Il aimerait souscrire un abonnement et se met à la disposition de son correspondant pour "faire connaître le problème actuel de l'Angola et même les activités politiques et militaires de mon parti" mais demande "que notre correspondance reste confidentielle". Antonio (dit Tony) Fwaminy da Costa Fernandes est né en avril 1942 à Cabinda. Il va devenir le ministre des Affaires étrangères de l'UNITA, basé à Londres pendant 20 ans. En 1991, il quittera l'UNITA avec l'ancien Secrétaire Général de celle-ci et son ministre de l'Intérieur, le Général Miguel M'Zau Puna, tous deux dénonçant le Président de l'UNITA, Jonas Savimbi, pour avoir ordonné l'assassinat en août 1991, à Jumba, après une parodie de procès en février 1989, de Wilson dos Santos, représentant de l'UNITA à Washington puis au Portugal, et de Tito Chingunji, représentant à Washington puis à Londres. Ayant rejoint le MPLA, parti au pouvoir, tout en étant critique à l'égard de son administration - et en particulier celle du ministère des Affaires étrangères -, il sera nommé ambassadeur d'Angola à Londres puis en Inde, en Malaisie et en Thaïlande.
