Published in London in 1909 this is the English First Edition of this Edwardian Science Fiction Novel, figured in Bleiler Checklist of Fantastic Literature and Locke Spectrum of fantasy, a Tale of two young Earthmen being invited by a visiting Martian to take a trip to Mars in his Spaceship, described as a living machine, once on Mars they have many adventures including hunting giant Eagles whilst wear flying suits, they also get involved in a gigantic Air Battle before being returned to earth. the book features a very attractive pictorial cover showing Winged Martians with one of their flying machines above, internally illustrated with six coloured plates by the artist W H C Groome, book measures 8 inches by 6 inches approx, 318 pages. Covers are mildly darkened, some fraying wear and minor splits to cloth at spine ends, mild bumps. Internally there is scattered foxing present to pages on and off throughout, heavy to a few pages, else contents in good general condition.
