Wray was contracted with Paramount Pictures from 1927 to 1931. Drifting from studio to studio after her contract ended, the actress would begin to gain a reputation as a "scream queen" thanks to her appearances in "Doctor X" (1932), "The Most Dangerous Game" (1932), "The Vampire Bat" (1933), "Mystery of the Wax Museum" (1933)-and, most famously, in "King Kong" (1933). 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with an annotation in manuscript ink noting Wray's name on the bottom right corner of the recto, light wear at the corners, and paper tape reinforcement on the verso of the top right corner.…

Photograph with pencil annotations in the thin bottom margin. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. The original "scream queen," Canadian-born Fay Wray appeared in over 100 films from 1923 to 1958, but will forever be remembered for her role as Ann Darrow, the "beauty who killed in the beast," in the 1933 classic "King Kong." Wray had signed a contract with Paramount Pictures in 1927, having been named a WAMPAS Baby Star the year prior, and made more than a dozen films with the studio, including her first lead role in the 1928 Erich von Stoheim film "The Wedding March. 7 x 9.75 inches.
